Feng Shui (Fung Shway) is the ancient Chinese art of finding balance and peace in your surroundings. Literally translated, Feng Shui means the balance of wind & water. This balance corrects and changes the flow and distribution of Life Energy (Ch’i) on the property and in the home. When Ch’i is flowing abundantly in your home, the results are health, happiness and good fortune. (Donald Trump, Madonna and Oprah are among many who swear by it!)
- Lighting: Fluorescent lighting contains negative ions, avoid using it. Let in as much natural light as possible to all rooms. Dimly lit rooms enhance sluggish energy.
- Dining Areas: Chairs should be even in numbers and a bowl of fruit on the table enhances prosperity.
- Bedrooms: Ensure the foot of the bed does not point directly at the door, and that the bed is not directly under the window. The electromagnetic fields from a TV are a serious disruption to energy. If you must keep one in your bedroom, cover the screen with a cloth when you sleep. Keep the space under the bed empty and bring yellow into the room to improve your love life.
- Hallways & Passageways: Keep hallways clear of clutter and widen the front path to your home.
- Furniture & Décor: Comfortable furniture is paramount. Rounded objects create harmony. Moving water attracts Ch’i and money (water fountains).
- Pets/Plants: Living things create and move energy throughout the home.
- Mirrors: Use mirrors to reflect items/views that you want to intensify.
By incorporating a few Feng Shui hints into your life, you can make changes to your home that will bring more health & greater happiness to those you love and possibly attract a larger pool of buyers if you are selling. Potential buyers feel more at ease and are drawn to a harmonious property with positive energy.
